Tanning should be the last beauty appointment you have! After waxing, facials, nails, hair, etc.
Check the section below for skin prep!
Exfoliation: For an even tan, it's essential to shed dead skin cells. A day prior to your appointment, exfoliate using a loofah, exfoliation mitt, or a scrub.
Moisturize: Keep your skin hydrated in the days leading to your tan. However, avoid lotions or creams on the day of your tan. Hot showers and shaving right before your appointment can alter your skin's PH levels and your pores, ultimately affecting the tan's outcome.
Previous Tan Removal: Ensure to fully remove any previous tan remnants before your appointment. Layering new tan over old tan is not recommended.
Tanning Attire: You can tan at your comfort level. please be mindful of tan lines you may or may not want.
The FDA suggests wearing bottoms, and while they are not required for females in our studio, they are required for males.
Post-Tan Outfit: Loose dark clothing is recommended for after your tanning appointment and while your tan develops.
Refrain from wearing a bra immediately after your session to avoid marks or lines.
Dress for the tan: Avoid snug clothing and bras immediately after your session. Loose dark clothing will help ensure your tan sets perfectly.
Stay Dry: Keep moisture-free until you have had your first post tan rinse. No sweating, bathing kiddos, doing dishes, or getting caught in the rain
Don't Touch: Avoid touching your freshly tanned skin
Sleep Well: If you're sleeping in your fresh tan, wear long pants and a loose top. This will help you avoid any skin-to-skin transfer of the developing bronzer.
Showers: Avoid Dove products, bar soaps, and exfoliating agents. Ensure to pat dry with your towel instead of rubbing.
Beware of Swimming: Both chlorine and saltwater can accelerate your tan's fade.
ABOVE ALL ELSE: Arguably the most important post tan rule is to MOISTURIZE. Make sure you are applying lotion twice a day to keep your skin hydrated, this helps your tan have a nice even fade and increases tan longevity. Avoid lotions/products that contain mineral oil and sulfates.
